I am an experienced funeral celebrant, originally from a clergy background, but now a lay celebrant. I help organise and conduct funerals, specifically burials, and support the bereaved in this journey, enabling them to celebrate the life of the person who has died.
Over many years, I have gained experience leading an appropriate ceremony at an emotional time, in unfamiliar circumstances, and understand the need for flexibility and sensitivity about a funeral's form. Always listening and empathising with the bereaved, and from this, creating the most suitable, dignified and respectful farewell that will celebrate your loved one's life.
I offer non-religious funerals as well as services with spiritual content. All services are tailored to best reflect the family's wishes and the deceased's life.
What I do:
• Support you from the first meeting to the end of the service.
• Arrange a face-to-face meeting, either in your home or via video call.
• Have an open conversation to understand your wishes and those of the deceased.
• Prepare the eulogy together with you so it is a genuine reflection of the deceased.
• Gauge how much participation other family and friends of the deceased would like to have in the service.
• Ask questions about the life of your loved one, their character, their values, and what made them the person they were. To help best tell their story.
• Help you to select readings, music and funeral poems to express emotions that are otherwise difficult to formulate.
• Ensure that the service is time-sensitive and not rushed.
• Create an order of service.
• Produce a draft of the service for you to review.
• Guide you through the day of the service.
• Meet you at your chosen venue at the appointed time and proceed to officiate the service to celebrate the life of your loved one.
