Comments and Feedback

These comments are from people who have used this celebrant's services.

Gary Groom conducted my dad's recent funeral. I'm not sure what words to use to say how highly we would recommend him.
Gary was very generous with his time and support. He was warm, understanding and patient (listening to our endless memories about my dad) enjoying our happy recollections and showing great empathy for our loss. My mum is 82 and Gary was so kind and understanding towards her (as he was to us all). His eulogy was heartbreakingly lovely (if that is possible). He made us laugh and cry, but overall the feeling was one of celebration for my beloved dad's long, happy life. Friends and family commented about how lovely the eulogy was. Having not organised a funeral before, I was relieved and full of gratitude that Gary took away the stress of organising the service. In what felt like a nice friendly chat he gleaned enough information from us to be able to talk about my dad almost as though he knew him personally and organise a service fit to celebrate my dad's life here with us. Gary made the whole awful journey more bearable, and helped us to provide a send off my dad would have been proud of. We, as a family, would not hesitate to recommend him. Thank you Gary, we couldn't have done it without you xxx

Thank you Suzanne for your lovely comments, it was both a privilege and an honour to lead the service for your Dad.

My father-in-law passed away in January and we were introduced to Gary by the Funeral Director. Gary spent time with my 82 year old mother-in-law and family and delivered a celebration of his life. There were many comments as to how lovely the service was and how Gary had captured the essence of Dad.
When my mother passed away at the beginning of April, we had no hesitation in asking Gary to perform the ceremony, which he did, again receiving many compliments as to how well the service went.
Both were followed up with a gift of a printed form of service and an e-mailed version that we were able to send to friends and relatives that couldn't attend.
We have no hesitation in recommending Gary to provide a friendly and caring professional service that eases the stress at a difficult time.

My Son passed away in March. Gary was the gentleman who conducted his service.
At a time when we were not thinking straight and in the darkest of places Gary visited us at home. His supportive, professional and caring manner helped us to arrange the most beautiful service, exactly how my son would have wanted. He kept in touch every step of the way and nothing was too much trouble. Everyone commented on the day about the service, how special and personal it was which meant so much.

He took away the stories and information we told him about our Son and worked on them. That on the day it was like he personally knew him. The special touches he made including a special box to take away with with a copy of the whole services was so comforting.

My family and I cannot thank Gary enough for making what was such a heartbreaking time so memorable. Something that I will never forget and cherish forever.

We as a family will always recommend Gary to anyone

Thank you, Christina

Gary conducted the service for my Father in Law in April. He visited us prior to the service and listened carefully to our wishes and views.
Gary used information supplied by my Wife and intuitively highlighted certain points which made his later eulogy very apt and a true personal reflection. Following the service, many friends commented on the quality of the service and how Gary's words really described the personality and life of my father-in-law.
Gary is a kind, considerate and professional person who really cares about his work and the families with whom he works.

Thank you Gary, for your kindness, empathy and intelligence in crafting a memorable service and positive memory for the family and friends.

Paul.

Gary was recommended to us by our funeral director. When me and my partner met with Gary it was very easy to talk to him given that a funeral service is quite personal, it was easy to tell him all the info he needed in order to make the eulogy and service perfect.
Communicating with Gary was very easy and he was very efficient having only 2/3 days to get everything in order for the service.
On the day of the service everything was perfect, it was all exactly as we had discussed, Gary spoke so well and made everybody feel at ease, the little booklet he had made and given us as a token from the service was a beautiful touch. I would absolutely recommend him.

Thanks so much Gary for making a very difficult time that little bit easier to bare.

Thank you Sophie and Sean for you lovely words, it has been an incredibly difficult time for you and the family. Thank you also for the lovely card you sent to me that was so thoughtful especially at a time when your mind must have been on so many things all at once.
It was a real honour to be invited to be part of such an important and very special service, thank you.
My thoughts are with you and the family.

Gary was recommended to my family and I by the funeral director. We could not have found anyone better to help us to celebrate the life of our beautiful Mam who died suddenly a week before Christmas. Gary made arrangements to meet us on the 27th December at my mums house. After a very difficult Christmas and waking up feeling the need for a sofa day I got a phone call. It was Gary. He was waiting for us at mams house. We had only lost track of what day/date it was. He totally understood and laughed as we all turned up within 20 minutes in our PJ’s.
He spent time talking to us about our Mam. He listened carefully and asked lots of questions. We knew our Mam would have loved him. He put together a beautiful piece that told her story and described her perfectly. The service was beautiful and people commented on how personal and special it was.
I would highly recommended Gary. He is a lovely, caring man who is amazing at what he does. He helped us to make a very difficult time very special.
Thank you Gary, with love from Julia, Jemma and Amy xxx

Gary was recommended to us by the funeral director as we were having to deal with our father's passing whilst being "long distance" due to Covid19 rules and regulations. We could not have had anyone better, our situation was handled with great empathy, sensitivity and tact. His calm patience and understanding were second to none and he even face timed us so that we had "met" him giving us some prior knowledge of who would be handling the service when we actually arrived. We were happy that we had done the absolute best we could for our father, during very difficult and strange times, this would not have been possible without having Gary at our side.

Thank you Gary, my sister and I will always be grateful to you xx

Thank you Anne that is so lovely of you. It was my great honour to provide the service for your much loved Dad during such difficult times for everyone. Its not easy for families with social distancing in place for what is such an incredibly difficult situation. Losing a loved one is hard enough without all the added pressure from a pandemic. Its good to know that despite restrictions we were able to rise above and still provide an appropriate service for everyone involved.
Thank you so much for your kind words my thoughts are with you and the family, take care and stay safe.

On behalf of myself, my Aunt and the rest of the family, a very big thank you for the way you pieced together the eulogy and delivered it with all the right sentiments in the right places. This is the second time you have done this for our family, and whilst I am not hoping to have to organise any funerals anytime soon, I would certainly like you to do this for us again in the future (subject to your availability and if you are still in the business).

My Aunt on the other side of the family passed away in September and we engaged a celebrant down in the Nottingham area, and afterwards my wife didn't feel that she had got the delivery quite right. We knew you had done it much better for my mum in 2018, but couldn't remember why. Anyway, you showed us last Tuesday how it should be done, and you were head and shoulders above our experience in Nottingham. You certainly reminded us of the standard we would want for this type of service.

My Aunt has commented a number of times afterwards, how lovely it was speaking to you, and whilst she had some reservations prior to the service as to how things would go reflecting upon my Uncle's life, she was more than happy with what you said and the way you linked things in.

As a celebrant, I would highly recommend you to anyone thinking of using this type of service. You made us laugh at a very sad time, and your delivery was absolute perfect to ensure that we gave my Uncle the send off he deserved.

Good evening Mark, thank you so much for your very kind words I really appreciate your feedback and I would always be willing to assist you and your family if ever my services were needed. It was a great honour to be able to lead you all through this difficult time and to make sure that your Uncle was given the very best service possible. As a family you were most generous with sharing some very personal details and precious memories which made the service all the more special, you really did your Uncle proud.

I would just like to say a big thank you on behalf of myself and my family, for the service which Gary provided for my Grandad’s funeral last week. Even during difficult times (Covid-19), Gary was able to make the funeral service so personal. He was very caring, empathetic and thoughtful throughout the whole process and I cannot thank him enough for encouraging me to do a reading for my Grandad. I think I would have regretted it, and if it wasn’t for Gary, I wouldn’t have done it. There are not enough words for me to say to thank Gary. We loved the service during these awful circumstances.. it was perfect.

Thanks Gary,
Megan xx
